Anticoagulant services
Spectra, through its CoaguCare programme, provide a comprehensive anticoagulant monitoring service for two Practice Based Consortia as well as providing training, audit and supervision to practitioners within other anticoagulant service providers including GP Practices.
CoaguCare exists to provide the highest standard of patient care in delivering anticoagulant monitoring in primary care, maximising safety and effectiveness, and improving the patient experience.
The CoaguCare programme provides:
- Anticoagulant Monitoring clinics for patients and domiciliary visits including services to care homes
- Bespoke education and training for Healthcare Professionals and Healthcare Assistants
- Training of Practitioners such as Pharmacists, Nurses and Assistant Practitioners, Health Care Assistants and employed carers responsible for administering medication such as warfarin
- Templates of comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures and Forms to support controls assurance
- On-going clinical supervision and support to recently qualified practitioners
- Urgent response to NHS Treatment Centres where a patient is unable or does not wish to go to hospital
CoaguCare also supports PCT commissioners and NHS providers of anticoagulant monitoring services with the provision of:
- Clinical audit of anticoagulant monitoring in GP Practices
- Patient outcome analysis
- Reports for presentation to the PCT
- Facilitation of patient satisfaction surveys
- Provision of patient advice by telephone and internet
